The difference between Affiliate Programs and Resell Rights
2. The difference between
Affiliate Programs and Resell
Rights
i) AFFILIATE PROGRAMS
An affiliate
program is a system that is set up
by owners of a digital product
that allows other
people to resell the product,
without having to actually own the
product itself.
This is an attractive way of
earning an income from other
people’s products, especially if
you have
no initial list of prospects. One
commonly used method of promoting
affiliate products is to use
Google Adwords. By setting up an
online advertising campaign it is
easy to target certain groups of
people that are looking for
products. Some “experts” in Google
Adwords make a very comfortable
living online using this
technique.
However for the beginner you will
need to read up on Google Adwords
to see how the program
actually works. You can save
yourself hundreds of dollars of
“pain” if you are careful to do
the
right thing before you start your
advertising campaign.
ii) RESELL
RIGHTS
If you have a product that you
own, for instance you may have
purchased a product with Resell
Rights, then you may be allowed to
set it up for sale on your
website. For a definition of
Rights (to
determine if you are able to
resell it from your website),
please see Section 5, “Definition
of
Rights”.
If you create your own digital
products then you will want to
clarify the definition of rights
that is
available for people to use with
the product. For instance, if you
want people to have “read only”
access to your product, and not
let them sell it from their site,
you will want to ensure that this
is
clearly stated on the first page
within the document. Don’t rely on
attaching a text document with
the product ? ensure that it is
clearly stated within the document
itself.
